Job Description: Senior Accountant 

This position entails processing of Invoices, Accounts Payable, accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing of the books. The accountant will be the central point of contact for all accounting related needs between vendors for accounts payable, and customers for mortgage first payments. 

Position Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Perform daily accounts payable functions

• Ensure expenses are allocated and posted to appropriate expense line items and departments 

• Process, post and keep track of organization’s payments and perform monthly reconciliation against invoices

• Post journal entries to general ledger to record expenses. Make necessary reclassifications to maintain the accuracy of general ledger

• Process and prepare monthly bank reconciliations in partnership with the senior accountant

• Review and maintain aged payable schedules for all vendors

 Handle T&E expenses and Amex reports at the end of each month.

• Assist with month-end close activities, including recording expense accruals and maintaining an accrual workbook.


Purchase Advice & First Payments

• Reconcile daily purchase advice and first payments

• Serve as the first point of contact for all customer inquiries, maintaining professional and courteous communication.

• Liaise with other departments as needed to obtain sufficient and appropriate support for work done and/or evidence to support the financial position being reported in Encompass system

• Assist in Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Fannie Mae, NMLS, State reporting

• Perform other administrative functions, as needed, including, but not limited to reporting, presentation updates, and back-up to other team-members within the department

 

Qualifications (include, but are not limited to):

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, in Corporate Accounting with Mortgage or Real Estate experience preferred

• Demonstrated background in financial reporting and intimate understanding of GAAP, including a proven track record of managing day to day accounting operations

• Minimum of Intermediate Excel skills

• Excellent oral and written communications skills

• Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to work efficiently and be assertive in a collaborative environment

• Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines

• Driven, proactive, innovative and flexible personality with a strong sense of initiative and ownership

 

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Mortgage Banking Accounting

• Loan Vision Accounting Software Experience

• Public Accounting Experience
